Brian Hedlund receives Faculty Opportunity Award

Brian Hedlund was awarded a $30,000 Faculty Opportunity Award from UNLV for a project project entitled Informatics and functional metagenomics focusing on viral polymerases in Nevada hot springs. The award was one of 11 selected from 35 proposals submitted in the Collaborative Team Award category. The work is in collaboration with Dr. Tom Schoenfeld and Dr. David Mead at Lucigen Corporation in Middleton, WI, and Dr. Eric Wommack at the University of Delaware. The award is intended to fund research and stimulate collaborative growth into a new field of research with a high potential for extramural funding.
